Reflection by Ryan Korson

Nevada has always inspired me througn its rich history, and its gorgeous natural landscapes.  As someone who has grown up in Nevada, I have found Nevada’s railroad history to be the most inspirational because of how much that one industry allowed for so many notable events such as the Comstock lode and creating a connection to the rest of the country with the Tanscontinental Railroad.

After experimenting with the gelatin printmaking process, it is such an easy and versatile process, which can result in unique outcomes.  The ability to quickly move different pieces around to create a new design as well as press objects onto the plate to create a sense of depth made this process one of my favorites.  Exchanging the discs with fellow classmates was a fun process because it allowed you to see how others interpret your art and then use their mindset to build upon it in a way that creates a new meaning to your work.

This project changed my perspective on collaborative art making because it showed me that the process can not only provide you with a new perspective on your own work, but also allowed you to talk with those you collaborate with on how you could potentially improve the work you do.  This project has inspired me to do more collaborative work with other artists to create unique pieces that may not otherwise be accomplished just by mysef.
